What is translationstation.co.uk?An online video based translation service where volunteers offer their assistance to those requiring help. Available to Third and Public Sector to help with their work with people from non-EU ethnic minorities. It works by linking people in Blackpool who may have difficulty with English, with those in other parts of the Country who can provide assistance. The service can be of benefit for people such as Housing Officers, Benefit Advisors, Health and Community Advisors. How do you access TranslationstationYou can access the service by going to www.translationstation.co.uk . You will need to register as a user but once you have you can then use all the services.
If you need a translator then you can contact them via the site and arrange a mutually convenient time for your session to take place
Do you need specialist equipment? To make translation station work properly you will need a reasonablly powerful comuter, a web cam, a microphone and a broadband connection. The better your equipment the better the experience. If you are in doubt about how good your equipment is then try using SKYPE and see if that works well. If it does then translationsation should as well.
If you are based in Blackpool then you can elect to become a translationstation base, for which you will be given a brand new state of the art touchscreen PC. You just need to guarantee that the service will be accessible 20 hours or more a week. Are there any conditions?Only that you make the service available and that you take care of the equipment. We would expect that the PC will be covered by some kind of contents inusurance.
